KINDERGARTEN
During the fourth marking period,
kindergarten students will be exploring tempo in music. Students will
be given opportunities to move to music which is slower and faster. In addition, we will be practicing our songs and chants for the kindergarten show in June.
FIRST GRADE
SECOND GRADE
In addition, we will focus on identifying vocal tone colors (woman, man,
child, and groups of the previous three). The vocal tone color
identification test will occur during the first half of the marking
period.
THIRD GRADE Third graders will have a vocal
assessment on singing a two-part melody in the form of a round. The
round will be performed in small groups of two or three students. The assessment will occur during the first half of the marking period. Students will also conclude their tone
color unit with folk and orchestral instruments by discriminating the
different tone colors of the violin, cello, and string bass, as well as
the acoustic guitar, banjo, harmonica, and hammered dulcimer. An aural
instrument identification test will occur during the second half of the
marking period.
FOURTH GRADE
FIFTH GRADE Fifth
graders will learn how to read the syncopated rhythm pattern of an
eighth note, followed by a quarter note, followed by an eighth note
(seen-COH-pah). An assessment of reading rhythms will be administered
during the first half of the marking period.
